Das eRezept – Ihr Erfolgsrezept
NOVENTI receives contract for centralized e-prescription storage (“GERDA” project) and release for beta version
NOVENTI received the contract for implementing substantial portions of the e-prescription as part of the ABDA (Federal Association of German Pharmacist Associations) “GERDA” model project (“protected e-prescription service for pharmacies”). Pharmacies still have authority over the necessary infrastructure, and the technical responsibility is with the Avoxa subsidiary NGDA (Network Operating Company of German Pharmacists). In the bidding process for the NGDA, NOVENTI was convincing with its experience and technical expertise and was able to come out on top of three other competitors.
The contract includes implementing the centralized e-prescription specialized service that manages the status transitions for e-prescriptions in addition to e-prescription storage. For example, this will ensure that patients are the only ones who can make the decision about the pharmacy where the prescription will be filled. It will also ensure that prescriptions can only be filled once in a pharmacy, and it will determine the procedure when a customer decides to switch pharmacies to have their prescription filled in another pharmacy.
NOVENTI is providing the first version of the software by mid-July of this year. Pilot operation will start then in November – initially in the Stuttgart and Tuttlingen regions. As of November, physicians in these regions will be able to issue prescriptions electronically for the first time. As a first step, these e-prescriptions will mainly be the “normal” template 16 prescriptions. Anesthetic prescriptions and medicinal substances will be progressively introduced. GERDA is to be implemented for the entire state of Baden-Wuerttemberg in February 2020.
The beta version has already been sent out, and the NGDA released it on 06/14/19. At this occasion, the Chief Executive Officer of NOVENTI Health SE, Dr. Hermann Sommer declared, “We are very glad about the trust that has been placed in us and are happy to design this area of our digital future in German healthcare together with the ABDA (Federal Association of German Pharmacist Associations).”
